1/ AI for Submissions to the Council Long-Term Plan
Nelson City Councils AI for Submissions to the Long-Term Plan is an innovative tool designed to enhance decision-making and strategic planning. This tool analyses community submissions, providing a clear representation of sentiments and key issues. It has significantly improved processes in community engagement, submission analysis, and report generation, making Nelson a more responsive and efficient council.

2/ Data to Impact: Social Progress Index in Lichfield.
Lichfield District Council (LDC) faced challenges in addressing social and economic outcomes due to a lack of detailed data on health, education, housing, and wellbeing, leading to inefficiencies in resource allocation. Underdeveloped data systems and insufficient integration practices limited their ability to use data-driven insights and implement a ‘Health in All Policies’ (HiAP) approach. The absence of baseline measurements further hindered progress tracking and success evaluation. In partnership with Impera Analytics, the council used data from the Social Progress Index (SPI) to assess key areas and target resources effectively. Outcomes included identifying social progress gaps, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the council’s ability to measure the impact of policies on residents’ wellbeing.

3/ Navigating Change: Introducing Our Road Closure Web Application
Our innovative Road Closure Web Application harnesses the power of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to provide real-time updates on road closures, detours, and alternate routes. Through dynamic mapping and web tools, users can efficiently plan their journeys, avoiding disruptions and optimizing travel time.

4/ Town of Milton Digital Records Management Solution
Over the past 10 years, the Town of Milton has experienced exponential growth in its unstructured digital records stored within email, SharePoint, and file shares. This unmanaged growth required perpetual expansion of storage and backup systems and increased organizational risks associated with non-compliance with records retention rules. The Town of Milton needed to address the lifecycle of its digital records. Traditional digital records management solutions require staff to manually import unstructured records into standalone software, which was determined to be unsuitable for Milton’s highly digital workforce. Milton implemented an innovative Digital Records Management Solution that provides full insight into its records, enabling analysis, tagging, and lifecycle management without significant changes to staff workflows. This solution has created efficiencies and improved work functions.

5/ The Handshake
Swedens municipalities have agreed on a strategic agenda – a handshake for welfare development through digitization. SALAR, Adda and Inera have led the work together with the municipalities and the result has been a concrete list of developments where it has been jointly agreed on which priorities have the most effect in a short time and where the need is greatest.
